The Federal Reserve (Fed) is perhaps the organization in the United States that has the most control over the economy. Yet it is surprising how little people in the U.S. know about the Fed. The Federal Reserve controls the money supply, conducts monetary policy, supervises and regulates banks, and so on. Its primary goal is to ensure the smooth operation of the financial system.
