We can see that if our consumer were given enough income to reach CB, she would purchase MS movies each month. The change in consumption from MO to MS is due purely to the substitution effect, since she has been compensated for the income effect.

   The original budget and the compensated budget represent the same spending power in that she can afford her original bundle on both. The important difference is the relative prices, accounting for the different slopes.
