We expect indifference curves to be curved in the same direction for virtually all consumers, but the slope can be quite different for different consumers

   To the right are indifference curves for two very different consumers, A and B. The difference in slope of these two indifference curves indicates very different attitudes about the trade-off between movies and dining out for these two consumers. Consumer A, for example, requires many more restaurant meals to compensate her for the loss of a movie than consumer B.
