Of course, expectations may involve factors other than price. For example, the expectation of a cold winter will lead to an increase in the demand for warm clothing, snow tires, insulation and other winter goods.

An interesting example that is somewhat related, is the behavior of Southerners at the first sign of snow. Being a native of North Carolina, I've witnessed this behavior during many winters. Other Southerners have verified that this is common in other Southern states as well. Upon the first sign of snow, large numbers of Southerners will drive rapidly to the nearest grocery store (those that don't run into a ditch, due to the snow) and buy out all the toilet paper, milk, and white bread. Apparently, they expect to be snowed in for weeks, and feel that these are crucial products. Thus, the demand for these three products shifts out as a result of the snow, or the expectations that result from the snow.
