Let's begin our study of Labor Supply with the study of individual labor supply. The LI curve to the right represents the supply of labor (measured in hours per week) by some individual. We could just as easily measure it in hours per day, days per year or any other measurement of the amount of labor time supplied.

    Keep in mind that, like all supply curves this is desired quantity supplied. Actual quantity supplied may be quite different due to rigidities associated with many jobs. You may wish to work 33 hours/week but your job may require you to work 40.
