You've probably heard, "There's no such thing as a free lunch." You've probably heard it so much it's boring to hear it again. An acquaintance of mine from some years ago used to say: "There's no such thing as a free lunch, unless someone else pays."

So, who's right? We'll see. But before lunch, let's consider some other cases.

It costs you something to be reading this Web page, not just the subscription fee, or the hardware and software expenses or charges you may be paying your ISP (Internet Service Provider). The greatest cost is probably the value you place on the other activity you gave up to read this.
