A firm remaining in an industry where exit is occurring would find demand for its product rising at every price as it faced fewer and fewer competitors.

We show this as a shift up in demand and marginal revenue as in the graph shown to the right. It is also reasonable to expect that exit makes demand more inelastic as it reduces the number of substitutes and entry makes demand more elastic as it increases the number of available substitutes.
