Whatever else is true about entry barriers, we know they exist in any industry in which the firm(s) are earning economic profits in the long run.

The nature of these barriers may vary and may even not be obvious. Economists may disagree about the nature and importance of different barriers, but their existence is certain if long run economic profits are present.
