As always we begin our analysis by looking for the presence of a dominant strategy for either or both players. Suppose Prisoner 1 believes Prisoner 2 will Confess. Prisoner 1 can either Confess and receive a payoff of -3 (3 years in prison) or Deny and receive payoff of be -10 (10 years in prison.)
If Prisoner 1 believes Prisoner 2 will Confess then it should Confess as this gives the shortest length of incarceration. What if Prisoner 2 is going to Deny?
