16. If marginal costs increase by $10 the curve will shift from MC to MC2 as shown on the graph to the right. Normally a change in marginal cost leads to a change in price and output, however in this case MC2 still falls in the gap in the MR curve. This means that, even though production costs have risen, the expected behavior of competitors means that the firm is better off not increasing price or reducing output.
