Chapter Nineteen: Module Intro -- International Trade

International trade is one of the most widely discussed economic issues. Should a nation protect its firms from foreign competition? Do protectionist policies save jobs? In this module we examine these issues. We discuss the reasons for trade protection, and then lay out the economic theory that helps us to answer the free trade versus protectionism debate. We conclude with a discussion of NAFTA.
