Suppose the market price fell all the way to PB. In this case, QD is considerably greater than QS. Hence, there is a significant shortage in the market.

    Consumers purchase all that is produced but still attempt to purchase more, or, in some cases may directly bid up the price. In any case, it becomes clear that consumers will pay more than is currently being charged, and the price begins to rise.
