To the right are Engel curves for the normal goods. Note that all three have a positive slope, meaning that consumption rises with income.
The curve labeled Normal is just meant to illustrate that any normal good will have a positively sloped Engel curve, though there is no reason that it need be linear.
Some economists prefer to have Income on the horizontal axis and Quantity on the vertical axis... illustrated ahead.
