If Q and Z specialize in production of the goods for which each has a comparative advantage, and trade, then Z's trade region is the area that lies between the best possible trades Z could ever hope to negotiate with Q, and the worst possible trades Z would ever consider. On the graph to the right, Z's trade region is made up of areas:

  2. 2 + 3 + 4.
  3. 3 + 4 + 5.
  4. 4 + 5 + 6.
  5. 3 + 4 + 5 + 6.
