Supply shifts cause price and quantity to move in opposite
directions, because changing supply actually allows us to observe
different points along the demand curve, which is downward sloping.
If supply increases, say due to a reduction in production
costs or a falling price of another output, equilibrium price will fall and equilibrium quantity will rise, as shown to the right.
